Darren Jason Watkins Jr. aka IShowSpeed, born January 21, 2005 in Cincinnati, is an American web videographer, singer and rapper. He is described by video game blog Kotaku as one of the fastest-growing video artists on YouTube, known for his songs Shake, Ronaldo (Sewey), God is Good, Dogs and World Cup. He is also at the heart of several controversies.

Biography

IShowSpeed joined YouTube in 2016 and began sharing gameplay videos.. In 2017, he starts live streaming, playing games like Fortnite and NBA 2K, but doesn’t have any success: in 2017, his videos are seen by an average of 2 people, and this figure gradually climbs to 10 people in 2024.

Then, in 2021, the number of viewers increases significantly. His channels grow to one hundred thousand subscribers in April 2021, to 1 million in June 2021, and to 10 million in August 2024. A character,4 he has become known for controversial comments,and videos reporting some of his most shocking behavior have gone viral on social networks, attracting him new visitors. In July 2021, a viral video on TikTok brought him 1 million new subscribers on his Youtube channel in less than a week.

In August 2022, he was the target of a swatting attack, with the police intervening at his home and him.

In June 2024, his most popular video was Shake, with around 208 million.
