we can use the adjectives to compare nouns .
we use :
as + adjective + as
when we compare people , things , or events which are the same .
Examples : She is as tall as her mother
He was as quiet as a mouse

not as + adjective +as
when we compare people , things , or events which are different .
Examples : The boys are not as tall as their father
Ahmad is not as strong as his old brother

The rules
Adjectives with one syllable we just add ‘ er ‘ to the end .
small +er ……smaller
Note : if the syllable adjective ends with ‘ e ‘ we just add ‘ r ‘
Nice +r…….nicer

when we compare three or more people , objects , or events .
Example : Giraffes are the tallest of all the animals .

we add er or est to adjectives which have one syllable or which have two syllables and end in y.

when an adjective ends in e , we add only r or st
example : white , whiter, whitest
when an adjective ends in y , we usually change the y to i , and dd er or est
example :happy , happier, happiest
when an adjective ends in consonant – vowel – consonant , we double the last letter and add er or est
example : big , bigger , biggest
( we never double the letters w, x, y )

examples: your car is more expensive than mine

The most +adjective or the least + adjective
when we compare three or more people , objects or events.
examples : She is the most helpless person in the world .
That was the least difficult exercise .

we put the words more, less, the most , the least in front of adjective which have three or more syllables .
