I was at Six Flags with my dad and my older brother Matt. We were almost ready to leave after a fun filled day of going on roller coasters. Earlier in the day I was talking about going on Kingda Ka and my dad said to me “ If you want to go I’ll go with you.” So I had told him we should go at the end of the day so it would be the last ride we go on. As we were making our way to Kingda Ka in my mind I was thinking I don’t know if I really want to go on this. But it looks like fun. Uhh. I don’t know what I should do.
Eventually we had reached the ride and I made up my mind. I was going to go on this ride.
“Hey, Matt you going to go on with dad and I?”
“Nope. You can have fun with that.”
“Are you afraid?”
“No, I just don’t feel like it.”
“Alright, then you have to hold all our stuff and guard it.” my dad informs Matt. So we gave him what small things we had, like our phones, and my dad’s wallet.
As we were walking towards the ride we found the entrance and while we were walking down the area where people would be on a crowded day. I noticed that there were signs saying “ On occasion the right may not go over the hill.” So that got me thinking. I wonder if we are gonna make it over the hill. Haha.
I told my dad “Ha. Watch we are going to be the ones who don’t make it over the hill.”
“Yeah that would be something to tell your mom.”
“What do they do if you don’t make it up the hill.”
“They probably just restart the ride.”
Finally we reached the place where we could board the ride and there were only a about 15 or 20 people on line waiting for the ride. We stood there waiting for what felt like 20 minutes but only was about 10 minutes until we finally got on the ride.
I walked out of the gate with my dad behind me. I was very excited to go on this roller coaster. I went into the very back of the vehicle. My dad sat right next to me and we both buckled up. The people controlling the ride did a visual scan like they do on all the other rides were they hold the thumb up out in front of them and scan the area. Then the girl at the consol said “Welcome to Kingda Ka! One of the tallest rides in the world. I hope you enjoy this ride. As you go forward you will reach 128 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds! Have fun!” Then she pressed the button that would start the ride.
The vehicle started to move but it was very slow. We slowly made our way out of the building and forward about 8 yards. Then we stopped completely. “I hope the ride didn’t break down.” I said to my father.
“That wouldn’t be good.”
Out of nowhere VOOM! The ride went to 128 miles per hour in what seemed like a second. We were off! “WOO” I screamed with excitement. We went up little hills until we reached the big monster. The tower stood 456 feet tall. We raced up to the top and we made it to the top of the hill without going backwards as my dad and I were joking about before we got on. We raced down the hill at what felt like lightning speed and when we conquered the big one there were small mini hills to go over before you make the final turn to get off the ride. I had just rode Kingda Ka. Something that my brother will probably never do and something my mom will definitely never do because she does not like roller coasters like that.
The ride stopped and the person sitting at the control board said over the loudspeaker “Congrats! You just rode Kingda Ka! The scariest ride in the park!”
“Uhm, Dad. I think I lost my brain at the top of the ride.” I joked because my head was rattling because of how fast we were going and because I had lots of room in the seat.
“Whoops, I think I lost something too.” he replied.
“My head was rattling around in the seat. So I may or may not have lost my brain back at the top.”
“Haha.”
“We should buy the picture they took.”
“I wonder what we looked like.”
We got to climb out of the seats and we started walking back to where we had left Matt. As we were leaving I asked my dad “Could I get a slurpee because I kind of have a headache after it rattling so much.” “Sure.” my dad replied. We found my brother and he asked us how it was.
“It was EPIC! I want to go on again. Do we have enough time?” I told him.
“No sorry. But that was really fun.” my dad informed me.
We walked over to the area where you could buy your photo and we looked at our picture and I told him that we should totally get it so we can show mom. My dad bought the picture and then we walked over to a concession stand to refill our cup for free soft drinks and I got got a blue raspberry slurpee in a small cup which was pretty big. My brother refilled his cup and he got a pretzel with some cheese sauce to dip it with. I lead my dad and Matt to a bench so we could relax before we take our long walk back to the car and so that I could drink my slurpee and Matt could eat his pretzel. “That was amazing. I want to go on Kingda Ka everytime I go to Six Flags and when i’m in sixth grade when we take our trip to Six Flags I will go to ride on Kingda Ka if I can get my group to go. ” I said to my family.
Finally, we got up from the bench and started to take the long walk all the way back to the car. At first I was nervous to go on Kingda Ka. I almost decided to chicken out. But I faced my fears. Facing your fears is always important even if it is just something small like if you’re afraid to try maybe a type of food you should still face your fear and try the food. Sometimes it will make you feel good to realize that maybe something isn’t that bad and to accomplish something will make you feel good to. Also I realized that it’s good to do something different than what other people might do. You should always face your fears and try something new.
