hurricanes can be very scary. They are giant tornado like storms. But hurricanes are slightly different, hurricanes form over warm ocean water by the tropics, then storm clouds form and winds start to rotate. If enough water is present and if winds are going fast enough the hurricane will form. hurricanes form two to twelve times a year. tornadoes are also a lot smaller but can have faster wind speeds.

Hurricanes have 5 categories with 5 being the strongest. Hurricanes cause a lot of deaths. sometimes getting up to 2,000+ deaths. But deaths are one thing, the cost to rebuild all the damage is another. Getting up to billions of dollars in repairing homes, land, and cities.

The Great Galveston Hurricane was one of the worst hurricanes in 1900. Galveston had speeds of 143 miles per hour. The death toll was a whopping 1,836. The hurricane was only 8.7 feet off sea level but brought a storm surge of over 15 feet which washed over the island. Galveston was located by Texas and Louisianian. The final cost was 150 million dollars in repairing. In my opinion hurricanes are the most dangerous storms.
