The characters of the book: The Hunger Games

Katniss Everdeen:

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl, she and her family come from District 12.

Katniss competes in the Hunger Games after she volunteered to take her little sister’s place, Primrose “Prim” Everdeen. Katniss has shown she will protect those she loves, no matter what.

Katniss is a highly skilled archer, hunter, and a trapper.

Katniss is my favorite character. She is smart, brave, strong and loving. She will do anything to protect her loved ones.

She is the hero of the story but also my personal hero.

Peeta Mellark:

Peeta is a 16 years old boy.

Peeta is first introduced to us at the reaping for the 74th Hunger Games when he was selected as the male tribute of District 12. Part of Peeta’s left leg was amputated following the 74th Hunger Games.

 Peeta is  an accomplished painter and baker. He is also excels at hand-to-hand combat, camouflage, handling knives, and starting fires.

Peeta is strong and brave but also loving and sensitive. He will do everything in his power to protect those he loves.

Haymitch Abernathy:

Haymitch Abernathy is an alcohol-loving, handsome middle-aged man who won the 50th Hunger Game.          

Following his victory, Haymitch became an alcoholic. And as the only surviving victor from District 12, Haymitch has been forced to mentor all of its tributes 

Primrose (“Prim”) Everdeen:

Prim is Katniss’s younger sister. She is 12 years old girl. prim has blonde hair and blue eyes. she Kind and compassionate, she is also a skilled healer.

Prim’s love for her sister is unbelievable. Every time I read the book she reminds me of my own sister and how much I love her.

President Coriolanus Snow:

Snow is the main antagonist of the book. He is the ruler of the Capitol and all of Panem.

Snow is my least favorite character. He is the villain of the story, he lied and betrayed everyone even the ones he loved.

Gale Hawthorne:

Gale is a Seam resident boy. He is an 18 years old boy. Gale has dark hair, olive skin, and gray eyes.

He and Katniss shares her hunting skill. Through hunting, they have become best friends. Gale always helped Katniss and was there for her even in the most difficult situations. For me he is an example of a true friend.
