2nd of April 2008 – The preparations
Me and ED are planning a trip to the Amazon rainforest.
It seems to be a hard and dangerous expedition, so we should be well prepared for it.
We spent all week learning maps, reading a lot of books and articles about the Amazon.
Also we learn about the kind of animals, plants and creatures we could might with and we packed our luggage with all the supplies we will need like a machete to move between the dense plants, a first aid kit with medicines, bandage and mosquito spray because they are really annoying at night!
In order to not die of starvation, we take a lot of snacks and Canned food.
We decided to go together because it’s more safe for us and there will be someone who supports you and helps you survive, we can share with each other experiences in this long trip, and really spend more time together.
Tomorrow we get up early because we will take a bus to Camana from Lima and start our trip into the Amazon rainforest. So excited!

It’s official. We are now in the jungle. We have been going all this time in the desert between Colombia and Peru. It has been heard but we aren’t giving up and we are continuing into the dark jungle.
6th of November 2008
A long walk into the jungle. After all this time of walking ED and I were tired so we decided to find some food and a good place without a danger to relax. We found a place on the Amazon river with a lot of fish. we fished. found some firewood. lit a fire. And definitely ate a special meal.
Spend the time talking about experiences we have had so far and how we feel in this Amazing Amazon place!

Today we came to an old village. It was really weird because we found food, shelters, natural remedies that were there, at first we thought these were hunters residences and than we remembered about one of the books we read in preparation for the trip about tribes called “uninfected” that live in the Amazon rainforest and have never been exposed to the world outside of the forest area.
We hid on the side to see if they were really there and we saw a group of children playing with sticks. It was really special to see it and unbelievable that even today there are such tribes like this.

It’s the worst week ever! All week there were terrible rains and storms. We just prayed that the storms would end so we could continue our journey. Only one thing made us not lose hope. It was the strong longing for family and our great progress from Canama, we are so close to Maruda.
9th of August 2010-(Morning)
It’s our best day of life. ED and I came finally to the Atlantic Ocean- OMG!
I can’t explain our feelings. it was close to tears and happiness together. After all this 2 year in the Amazon I really feel “uninfected”… (like the tribes Huh)
We’ll never forget this day and this is an Amazing Amazon!!!
