Poaching is one of the major issues we have today. It is causing disruption in habitats, in animals lives, plant lives, and our lives. Poaching affects many things, one of them being the food chain. Animals could starve or even over-populate because other animals in their food chain are being poached.

Some reasons people poach is that they need money or food, but they also do it for their religious beliefs or other beliefs that certain things hold medicinal properties and other helping benefits. Some groups such as a militia poach to fund themselves.

Poaching is a large problem almost everywhere. Many ecosystems, biomes, and countries are affected. A few examples are the freshwater, marine, forest, and cropland ecosystems.

Poaching became illegal around the 1800s but soon became a bigger problem. There are many ways poaching is getting better in our world today but it is also getting worse. Animals and plants are getting poached more and more. Some of the places where poaching is a big problem is Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, China, Thailand, and the Philippines.

A few of the most commonly poached animals and plants are pangolins, elephants, rhinos, ferns, ginseng, and medinillas. Poaching affects everyone around them and the environment around them. It can cause many problems one such as spreading disease.

Poaching is a large issue that needs to be fixed. But here is a five step plan to help reduce the impacts of poaching and help the cause.

11

First is to give more education on the effects and dangers of poaching. Then the poached animals would need to be brought to a reserve to help them repopulate and to keep them safe. After that we would need to work on promoting and investing in herbal or other synthetic alternatives to replace the products the poached plants and animals were being used for.

12

Once that is done an effort should be made to remove as many books or other teaching materials that involve using poached animals and plants from as many places as possible. The last step is to have stronger law enforcement, national and international.

13

My plan can help by lessening the impact of poaching. It will not be able to solve the whole problem of poaching though. Anyone who wants to get involved would be able to help with my plan. There would have to be fundraisers and advocates to fund and help my plan start happening though.

14

I think my plan is the best solution because there is no violence involved, people would be more educated, and it is helping animals, plants, and people. It’s important for everyone to follow my plan because it could have a huge impact on helping the poaching issue which could lead to helping the environment and many more issues in our world.
