Did you know that Overpopulation is a major issue in today’s world? Overpopulation is a huge issue because it takes a toll on the natural resources and land space. This impacts the global economy and many standards of living. Poverty is known to be one of the leading causes of overpopulation because of lack of educational resources. There are higher death rates too, this leads into higher birth rates. Then it results in major growth of population all over the world, especially in places with a lot of poverty.
This is affecting many other environmental issues as well like Deforestation, over-farming, water-pollution, Euphotrication, and global warming. In places like Africa that have a lot of poverty it takes a huge toll because it leads to loss of water and many other important resources. Most animals and plants are being affected by overpopulation. They are affected because humans are taking up some of their food, water, and their habitats. Many humans are also impacted for similar reasons of not having enough food, water, and land space. Some of the most endangered species caused by overpopulation are panthers, sea turtles, fish, and polar bears. They are so heavily impacted because a lot of their water and many resources they need are taken from them by humans.
Also, many diseases like HIV/ AIDs or Malaria will continue to spread as the population grows. A lot of people are getting HIV/ AIDs because they need food and they do many things to be able to get it. Many habitats have been affected because humans fish, take water, or take away food from them. Overpopulation became a huge problem around the 1970s. Many people during this time went without food or water for many days and starved. Everyday the population grows and becomes more of a problem.
To help the overpopulation problem decrease we will need a solution. I feel that if everyone around the world helps to develop countries overpopulation could lessen. Developing more countries can help to lessen overpopulation because some people won’t have such an urge to have more children. With more medical facilities, education, and other resources people won’t need to have any more children. Many people want more children because they feel that if they have a lot of kids at least a few of them will survive. There are a lot of people who want more boys than girls because they feel like girls are useless and aren’t smart enough too. Many people aren’t very well educated and don’t know a lot about overpopulation if more people learned about this then they might not need as many children.
One major part of this would be different finances and/or materials. We would need many more hospitals and schools, most places would need a good medical facility and a good education. A major thing needed to build hospitals and schools is money which is also limited, but if people helped out and donated that could help. Organizations could be school districts, hospitals, like Mercy or St. Lukes, and everyone in the community could help by donating too. This is important because every day people take up natural resources and things we need to survive. If overpopulation doesn’t lessen then more people are going to get diseases, more animals can become endangered, and we could lose almost all of our natural resources that everyone and everything need to survive.
