New York- U.S. Airways flight 1549 Crash-landed in the Hudson River yesterday at 3:27 p.m. The Pilot, Captain Sullenberger succeeded in landing the huge plane safely. All of the passengers and crew on the plane were able to get out alive.

Why did this happen? The U.S. Airways plane took off from LaGuardia Airport at 3:25 in the afternoon. Three minutes after take off, it hit a flock of birds. Both engines stopped working. The pilot informed the air traffic controller. Patrick Harten, that he had to make an emergency landing.

Patrick immediately gave the pilot several options for landing at the airport, but the pilot knew that the plane couldn’t fly that far. His last words on the radio were: “We’re gonna be in the Hudson.” It was a miracle that everybody survived.
