CAMPAIGN AGAINST STEREOTYPES

We have faced this problem: stereotypes.

For example, about our school there are a lot of stereotypes: students of other schools say that we use drugs, that we do nothing and that our teachers do not teach.

Other stereotypes are about women: they have to stay at home to wash and cook, giving the man the opportunity to bring home food.

But it’s not true, because for me the mans and women must have the same rights, and all schools the same reputation.

For this reason we created a short video where each student of our classroom explains in a sentence “why we stand with Valle”.

CANTERBURY

It is a beautiful medieval town in the Kent region. the most famous place in Canterbury and its cathedral, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It houses the sanctuary dedicated to Thomas Beckett, the archbishop who was killed into the cathedral in the 12th century. In the Middle Ages Canterbury was the most popular destination for pilgrimages right here Chores set the Canterbury tales. One of the most famous attractions is the reconstruction of the Medieval city. Canterbury is located near the AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), so you can make a cultural and naturalistic trip.

I saw some photos on internet and in the period of quarantine we saw the virtual tour in of the cathedral and I really liked that, because the cathedral and the river are beautiful.

CANTERBURY TALES

IS A COLLECTION OF TWENTY-FOUR STORIES WRITTEN BY GEOFFREY CHAUCER.

THE TALES (MOSTLY WRITTEN IN VERSE, ALTHOUGH SEOME ARE IN PROSE) ARE PRESENTED

AS PART OF A STORY-TELLING CONTEST BY A GROUP OF PILGRIMS AS THEY TRAVEL TOGETHER FROM LONDON TO CANTERBURY TO VISIT THE SHRINE OF SAINT THOMAS BECKET AT CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL.

IN THE NEXT PAGE YOU CAN SEE MY ILLUSTRATION BASED ON THE TALE OF “WIFE OF BATH”.

ADAM DELVING

ADAM is the oldest (c.1174 AD) and most famous of 43 surviving panels depicting the Ancestors of Christ, dating from the late 12th century and originally placed in the clerestory of the Canterbury Cathedral.

Adam appears thin, curved and tired. He is bare-chested and his strong muscles show his daily labour.

The river is blue and represents the salvation through the holy water of Baptism.

I really like this type of art and also this technic is really difficult to realize.

LYRICS TRAINING

We listened “Eraser” by Ed Sheeran and “get up, stand up” by Bob Marley, analyzing the text literally understanding the artist’s message.

The first song speaks about alcoholism, and the hope to eraser the pain with alcohol or drugs.

The second one wants let us know the importance of fighting for our rights.

Hearing these songs, i discovered various sides of the artists, and Ed Sheeran surprised me because i did not expect that he was every day drunk.

THE GREAT DICTATOR

We made a comparison between the great dictator speech of Charlie Chaplin, and the parts of the same speech used for a spot of Lavazza Caffè called “good morning humanity”.

This is a great speech who wants to invite all humanity to be more united.

In the spot, these impressive phrases are also combined with impressive images and these things together have a strong emotional impact.

the original speech was longer and more complex, but what we see in the commercial is more effective.
it’s a pity that it’s just an advertisement for a coffee…

MAGNA CARTA

Magna Carta is a world-class brand. It stands for human rights and democracy. It stands for trial by jury. It stands for free speech, the rule of law and personal liberty.
But it doesn’t mention any of these things.
Instead, Magna Carta has quite a bit to say about fish weirs and river banks, about taxes and debts.
Magna Carta is iconic like CocaCola and apple: it enjoys instant recognition as the most important legal document in the common law world.

THE BLACK DEATH VS COVID 19

In 1348 an epidemic of the black plague spread across Europe causing millions of deaths.

In 2020 a covid 19 epidemic hits the whole world.
Even if the mortality of this disease is not comparable to that of the plague, the way of interacting between people is similar of that of the black plague.

We spoke about it and we saw a video:
