Point of View
Objectives:
-Students will learn what point of view is.
-Students will learn the 3 types of point of view.
-Students will learn the importance of point of view.
-Students will be able to identify point of view.
What is point of view?
-The point of view of a story is how the writer wants to convey the experience to the reader.
–Point of view is important in a story because it helps the reader understand characters’ feelings and actions. Each character will have his or her own perspective, so whoever is telling the story will impact the reader’s opinion of other characters and events.
The 3 Main Types of Point of View
- First person is the I/we perspective.
- Second person is the you perspective.
- Third person is the he/she/it/they perspective.
Activity:
Identify the Point of View in each of the following prompts:
- We didn’t want to go to the park so we went to the mall instead. Answer:____________________
