2d+2=8
After analyzing the problem we see that this equation is a basic 2 step algebra problem
2d+2=8
The first step in solving the equation is to subtract 2 from both the left and right side of the parenthesis.
2d=6
The second step into solving the equation is to isolate d by itself. How do we do that ?
2d=6
We have to divide both 2d and 6 by 2. The reason is because whatever we do to the left side of the equation we have to do to the right.
d=3
After dividing both sides we get that d=3
A way to check the problem is to plug 3 into the equation for d.
So we now have 2(3)+2=8.
Next step is to distribute 2 to 3. 2(3)=6. Now we have to add 2.
We get that 6+2=8. Which is correct. Meaning that we solved the equation correctly and it is proven with plugging our answer back into the original equation.
