The Real Champ

Tom was the best player on the team.

Every Wednesday Tom would come home at the end of his practice with a big smile on his face.

Last week Tom came home very sad. “What happened?” asked mom?

“A new boy came today from a different town. He beat me today! that cannot be true! I am the best player in my group!”

“Tom”, mom said, “I know that it can be frustrating, but other kids can also be good players”

“Not true!” shouted tom, “I am the next Federer!”

The next week, Tom came home with a big smile on his face. “Did you win today?” asked mom, “no” said Tom, but I became the new boys friend. He beat me but I am happy for him because he is my friend. the coach said that he is proud of me, because it is harder to lose and to have sportsmanship then to win”.

“I am also proud of you” said mom, “you are now a real champion!”
