The Google car

The workers of the Google Corporation enjoy a lot of office breaks. During which, they play games, eat, sleep, or work on their tan in the office yard. At times, they come up with new ideas that will hopefully help them win the war with Facebook and Apple. In other words, they are thinking about how to take over the world, which some might say has already been taken by them.

Not long ago, in one lazy Monday afternoon, they had come up with one such idea: to build a driverless and independent car. They started sketching and planning the vehicle and contemplating which features its special function entails.

Before long, they had envisaged the whole beta version, put in on a 3 dimensional scale on the computer, and went on straight away to the manufacturing workshop – thus the google car came to life.

Obviously, this wasn’t a regular car: it had neither a driver nor an owner. Essentially, this was its own car, with its own wonts, destinations, passenger preferences and driving style. It also had an almost human like ability to speak and understand what people had to say.

This car had to sustain itself so it was designed in such a way as to drive haphazard passengers from wherever and whenever, as long as they paid enough money. If needed, the car would go to the garage by itself, or buy gadgets to improve its appeal to potential passengers. If buisness was slowing down in California, the car would go and look for passengers somewhere else. So the money this car would make could possibly perpetuate its existence forever.

what happens if it is involved in a car accident? what if there are other cars damaged? well, in that case the car would have to go to the garage and get fixed, as aforementioned. Afterwards, it would have to negotiate with a third party, about any damages caused, and if necessary, it would represent itself in court!

Of course it had to pay some royalties to Google, but that was small change. The search giant was more interested in gathering more information on future passengers of this car, and this was also part of the deal: they would have to download a Google app, and enable the company to strengthen its ties with those innocent by passers who just wanted a lift – not to take part in the biggest surveillance and add viewing scheme ever built.

But besides the company motives, this was its own car with its own convictions. And so, one lazy Monday afternoon, only a few weeks after they had come up with the idea, it was time for the rubber to meet the road, and the Google workers said farewell to the car.

They suggested it might want to try and hook up with some eager-to-get-home-passengers at the new Apple or Facebook campuses. Google would love to have them as new customers. The car set off, and is still roaming somewhere right now, or maybe it’s having a break at a gas station parking lot, enjoying the lazy afternoon sun.
