  • The African penguin is a species of penguin that lives in the waters of South Africa.

Oscar Pistorius

  • Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius was born on 22 November 1986 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
  • Oscar is a South African former professional sprinter.
  • Oscar  was born with fibular hemimelia in both legs. When he was eleven months old, both of his legs were cut off under his knees. 
  • In 2007, he participated in an international handicap competition for the first time.
  • Oscar, who holds world records for running 100, 200 and 400 meters for leg amputations, runs with the help of prosthetic legs made of carbon fiber.
  • He participated in the London Olympics, and was the first invalid athlete in the history of the Olympic Games.  
  • He was the tenth athlete to compete at both the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games.
  • On February 14, 2013, Oscar was arrested after shooting his girlfriend ​​and charged with murder.
  •  Oscar did not deny shooting his girlfriend. he said that he thought a burglar had entered their apartment, while she tried to surprise him on Valentine’s Day.

  • Charlize Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa, the only child of Gerda and Charles Theron.
  • Her native language is Afrikaans. In addition she speaks English and a variety of other languages she learned from her dad’s farm workers and her neighbors.
  • She grew up on her parents’ farm in Benoni, near Johannesburg.
  • On 21 june 1991, when she was 15 years old, her alcoholic father, threatened Charlize and her mother, physically attacking her mother and pointing a gun at both of them. Theron’s mother retrieved her own handgun, and killed him.
  • Charlize Theron is a  former model and a South African and American actress and producer.
  • She became famous in the 1990s participating in films: “Two Days In The Valley”,” The Devil’s Advocate”, “Mighty Joe Young” , and “The Cider House Rules”.
  • She is the recipient of several accolades, including an Academy Award (which made her the first African American to win the Academy Award for acting), a Golden Globe Award, an American Cinematheque Award, and the Silver Bear for Best Actress. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016, and she is one of the world’s highest-paid actresses, as of 2019.

South African music

Popular music in South Africa is usually at a variable tempo and vocal harmonies. This geographical area is recognizes by different tools, such as the iron bell and many strange harps.
There are rhythmic principles common to sub-Saharan African traditions. These principles actually constitute one main system. The principles on which music is based are similar, but their use varies by region, state, and ethnic group.
Mbaqanga is a style that grew in the 1960s when Western tools blended with local Zulu melodies and the combination became popular with both black and white South Africans.                               This is considered the music of the struggle for liberation.
Popular music in South Africa also had a role in the war on apartheid.
Isicathamiya is a musical style that developed in the 19th century for black South Africans who worked in the mines and sang about the difficulties of their lives in a-chapel harmonies. From this music we learn about the resistance of the people of South Africa who have developed the type of music so that the miners do not hear them.
