A is for Native Americans

 

Who:  Native americans , soldiers

 

 

What: Native Americans were in the wars to help other win. Also Native americans were in tribes and wars because they knew how to do everything like cook animals, how to start a fire, and how to use weapons. Which was very helpful.

 

When: all of the years

 

Where: All over the world

 

Why: if Native Americans weren’t born then nobody would have any ideas of how to kill people in the war.

B is for Boston Massacre

 

Who: Colonists, British soldiers

 

What happened:  A fight started by the Sons for Liberty. An American began harassing a redcoat named John Goldfilnch standing guard. Another man came named Hugh White was defending John. Then White hit the American with a musket in the face. More people became angry and more people came to fight. British pulled out there guns while everyone was running to find safety.

 

When: March 5, 1770

 

Where: Boston

 

Why did this cause the revolution: It caused the revolution because the fight began with the British.

C is for Concord

 

Who: colonists , redcoats/british

 

What: The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, kicked off the American Revolutionary War (1775-83). Tensions had been building for many years between residents of the 13 American colonies and the British authorities, particularly in Massachusetts.

 

When: 1775

 

Where: Massachusetts

D is for Dumping Tea

 

Who: Colonists, Indians, Merchants

 

What: A law allowed the East India Company of Britain to sell tea in America at a very low price. For several years, Merchants had avoided paying taxes. The people who were on the boats weren’t really Indians they just dressed up. They started dumping the Tea because

 

When: December 19, 1773

 

Why: This caused the revolution because the Indians weren’t really Indians they were only just dressed up and they dumped was over 92,000 pounds of tea.

E is for whites of their eyes

 

Who:  William Prescott

 

What:  The origin of this alleged command to the American patriots at Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775 may have been Col. William Prescott’s order to reserve fire and aim low because powder was scarce.

 

When: 1775

 

Where: Boston

 

Why: William said this note because if he didn’t then the team would waste the bullets.

F is for French and Indian war.

 

Who happened: France and England went to war over the Ohio River Valley.

England won and made colonists pay taxes to pay the cost of the war.

When: 1754-1763

 

Where: Colonies

 

Why did it cause the revolution: Colonists did not want to pay taxes without reputation in parliament.

G is for Give me liberty or give me death.

 

Who:  Patrick Henry

 

What happened: Patrick Henry said ” Give me liberty or give me death” because he would rather die than not have an vote with taxes.

 

When: 1765

 

Why did this cause the revolution: This caused the revolution because he said this as a stand to not pay taxes.

H is for Bunker Hills

 

Who: colonists , redcoats

 

What: On June 17, 1775, early in the Revolutionary War (1775-83) the British defeated the Americans at the Battle of Bunker Hill in Massachusetts.

 

When: June 17,1775

 

Where: Massachusetts.

 

Why: Bunker hill was a hill and the teams were below and on top of the will with walls to protect you.

Who: committees of corasparrece

What: They spears the news of the Intolerable  acts and people were furious with Britain

Why: They thought that the laws were to harsh.

J is for John Adams

 

Who: John Adams, soilders

 

What happened: John Adams defended the soliders at there trial. He wanted to show Britian that courts we’re fair.

Where: Boston

 

Why did this cause the revolution: This caused the revolution because John wanted to prove that soilders have been protecting themselves.

K is for King George

 

Who: King George , colonists

 

What: England’s longest-ruling monarch before Queen Victoria, King George III (1738-1820) ascended the British throne in 1760. During his 59-year reign, he pushed through a British victory in the Seven Years’ War.

Where:  England

 

Why: A member of the Hanover dynasty, which ruled England for almost two centuries.

L is for Lexington

 

Who: colonists redcoats

M is for Midnight Ride

 

who: colonists , Paul revere

 

What happened: Paul has a plan to warn people in the countryside about the British coming, but he needs to know which direction they are taking. So the two men agree on a secret code: Paul’s friend will signal him by hanging one lantern in the church belfry (the tall tower in a church where the bells are hung) if the British are marching out on land, two lanterns if they are leaving in boats. After agreeing on this plan, Paul rows across the river and waits for the sign.

N is for  No taxation without representation

 

Who:  Colonists

 

What happened:  Colonists were upset that they were being taxed by parliament without any representation. They made this chant and said it all through years before the war.

 

When :  1765 – end of the war

 

Where: All through the colonies.

 

Why did this cause the revolution:  Colonists were so upset by not getting a vote that they went to war to separate from England

O is for Ohio River Valley

 

Who: French and British

 

When: 1754-1763

 

What happened: France and British were fighting over the Ohio River Valley. British won and got the Ohio River Valley.

 

Where: Ohio

 

Why did it cause the revolution:  The French and Indian War cost Britain a lot of money so they had to tax the colonists to pay for it.

P is for proclamation Of 1763

 

Who: Colonists

 

What happened: The people listed above signed the proclamation of 1763, stating that colonists can not pass a line in the Appalachian Mountains.

 

When: 1763

 

Why did this cause the revolution:  When America signed the proclamation they stated that no colonists could cross a line in the Appalachian Mountains.

Q is for quick walk back to Boston

 

Who: redcoats colonists

 

What: when walking back to Boston redcoats think the war is over. Well not for the others. They started shooting to redcoats as they didn’t have warmed up guns and ready to fire.

R is for Paul Revere

 

Who: Paul Revere , soldiers , colonists

 

What happened: Paul Revere became a Freemason in 1760 , and soon joined two more overtly political groups *The Sons Of Liberty* and the North End Caucus.

 

When: 1760

 

Where: Massachusetts

 

Why did this cause the resolution: Sliversmith Paul Revere took part in Boston Tea Party and famously said the Lexington Minutemen about the approach of the British in 1775.

S is for Sam Adams

 

Who: Sam Adams, British Soldiers

 

What happened: Sam Adams wanted more colonists to know what was happening around the colonies. In 1772 Adams and other colonial leaders in Boston set up Committees of Correspondence to share news with the other colonies. Correspondence is written communication.

 

When:  1772

 

Where: Boston

 

Why did this cause the revolution: This caused the revolution because they sent each other letters about what the British were doing and what actions colonists could take.

W is for Dr. Joseph Warren

 

Who: Paul Revere , colonists , Dr. Warren

 

What happened: Dr. Joseph Warren (of the Sons of Liberty) sends for Revere and asks him to ride to Lexington and warn Hancock and Adams of British plans. At 10:00 clock Dr.Warren sent in a great haste for Paul, and begged that Paul would immediatly set off for Lexington.

 

When: April 18 1775

 

Where: Charlestown

 

Why did this cause the resoultion: Paul Revere did not gain immediate fame for his April 1775″Midnight Ride.” In fact, it wasn’t until Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1861 poem, which greatly embellished Revere’s role, that he became the folk hero we think of today
