In 1932, Australia started a war against emu. This is because emu decided that farmland was better suited to their lives and farmers were constantly complaining to the government that emu were eating everything they grew. After the breeding period, the number of emu had grown tremendously
and farmers started saying that they will not sell what they grew until the government deals with the emu. The government decided to use a machine gun to kill these birds. In the first battle they began trying to set a trap but the birds fled in small groups to all sides. The next day the soldiers
wasted 2,000 rounds of ammunition and killed just over 50 birds. At the end of the war they killed about 5,000 birds which is a small number. They stopped killing birds and the government lost the war. (true story).
