History
SU “Dimitar Matevski” was established in 1982. The school has excellent facilities: 28 classrooms, 9 classrooms, of which 3 computer; library; video room; choreographic hall; swimming pool; gym; sports shooting range; outdoor sports grounds, two of which with artificial turf, a functioning student chair. In 2010, SU “Dimitar Matevski” underwent a complete overhaul and complete renovation worth over BGN 2 million – the largest investment in education in Plovdiv for the last 20 years.

Patron
Dimitar Matevski was born in 1835 in Chirpan.He studied in Stara Zagora and taught in Merichleri. In this village he founded a community center, but the Phanariots managed to discredit him before the Turkish authorities and by 1871 Matevski was forced to move to Plovdiv, where he was appointed a teacher in the newly restored school of St. Trinity, to which he also opened a neighborhood community center.In Plovdiv Dimitar Matevski met V. Levski.As evidenced by St. Loans.The apostle visited Plovdiv in 1869 and involved young people in the work, including several teachers from the surrounding villages. Among them are: Dimitar Matevski, K. Doganov, Anton Knigovezetza and others. Shortly afterwards, the Apostle was in Chirpan, where he stayed at the home of G. Danchov and founded the local secret committee. In the following years, Matevski and Danchov were among the most active people in the organization. The first was elected chairman by the Plovdiv and the second by the Chirpan Revolutionary Committee.With his life – completely devoted to the fatherland, Dimitar Matevski ranks among these most prominent Bulgarians.
