A drastic change into the future

Once upon a time there was a girl named Shiri Lasman. A beautiful blue eyed girl with long, natural blonde hair. She lived in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Shiri grew up in a Jewish home with Israeli parents and two sisters. She was the sandwich, the middle child. She was born in Israel in 1995. When she turned 8 years old, her parents decided to move to America, to a town called Cherry Hill, located in New Jersey. You may think moving was easy. However, It meant finding new friends, learning a completely new language, adapting to a new culture, new beliefs, and most importantly, a new life.

Luckily, Shiri quickly acclimated to her new home. As time passed she met friends, went to elementary school, middle school, and finally high school. The tradition in High schools is going to senior proms alongside the friends that you have encountered over the years. The final and most exciting event of accomplishment, is the graduation ceremony, which takes place prior to the prom.

As time passed, Shiri started questioning her life. Is it really what she wants? Does she see herself living the “American Dream” for the rest of her life?

Deep inside she felt connected to Israel, the culture, her family, and mostly- her identity as a Jewish girl.

For her it seemed as if life was taken for granted- easy with no real meaning attached to it. She was thinking that life is a long journey filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, but she wanted to live it with no regrets.

She did not want her journey of life to be like “the road not taken.”

When it was time to choose whether to go to college, or move to Israel, Shiri had to make a decision.

Yes you’ve guessed right, she decided to go to Israel and serve her country, the place where she was born.

It was not an easy move, considering the fact that she could have continued living in a calm and relaxed world, but for her it was not questionable. Luckily, she had her sister, Leigh, who had gone through the same process and could walk her through it.

She came to Israel and lived on a kibbutz called “Afikim,” life seemed beautiful.

Her draft date was on December 20th. Her sister accompanied her to the induction center.

This is where her journey had begun.

Shiri’s job in the army was a fitness instructor in the air force. She dedicated 2 whole years for the army, serving her country with honor.

She is now independent, unbeatable, unstoppable, and stronger than she had ever been before.
