We all go to the same schools and colleges and learn the same things. How can we ever stand out and be remarkable? By being different and thinking differently, of course.
How did the real Jeff Pulver and Jimmy Wales succeed by thinking differently? And how woud you escape from an aquarium?
And how about Steve Jobs? Different? You bet. “The minute I dropped out (of college) I stopped taking the required courses that didn’t interest me and began dropping in on the ones that were far more interesting.”
Some quotes from Steve Jobs:
“You can’t connect the dots looking forwards, you can only connect them looking backwards.” Similar to Soren Kierkegaard: Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards (for the whole quote:
After getting fired from Apple: “the heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again.”
“The only way to do great work is to do what you love. You’ll know when you find it.”
Death is the destination we all share.
Stay hungry, stay foolish.
By the way, Steve and Apple failed often. Here are some of the famous ones.
Were Charles Darwin and Winston Churchill ‘normal’ people?
Or how about Richard Cory?
I wonder what he’s doing today…but I’m sure it’s different
My baby brother Dave is one of the most successful people I know. He disagreed with everyone about the economic crash of 2008. He was right. Here’s the interview.
