The Dream Which Came True…Blue Lagoon Rhodes

Obviously it wasn’t easy to take the whole ship so i had to cut it into three pieces …

There you see the first cut…

To load it on the truck was a problem so we had to use a crane ….

I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to load and bring it to the place …but where there is a will there is always a way to do it …

The boys helped do it …leader of them all was Mark Philips …the 21 years old (at the time) who had the skills and the power to take on this difficult challenge …

Next problem was to pass it through the gate of the old town and bring it to our place …to create the magic dream I had in my mind …The Blue Lagoon ….

The pieces of the ship came to the place and with the help of the crane again we lifted them and placed them inside …I must say that while we were placing them on the ground one of them broke into two pieces …and I thought there goes my dream …but Mark said to me mister Yiannis no worries …I ‘ll put everything together …and he did an amazing job….

The construction started and there were times where I felt it will never finish …It took about three months to complete it …and sometimes I felt desperate!! This picture says it all when 1000 words would fail …..

I built a swimming pool and even brought a parrot named Coco. 

I dressed the staff like pirates ..I planted palm trees ..etc etc….I’d better let the pictures speak for themselves. 

I opened the doors on July 31st, 1992 ..This is the first picture of how the place looked initially …

The invitation …unfortunately in Greek …

My Coco …my parrot …my good bird …she (was female) was always kind to go on the shoulders of any one for picture taking…
