Z”L – May their memories be a blessing.
Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named Annabelle,
and her doggy best friend, Max.
They had many adventures together.
This is the story of their hunt for bluebonnets,
a wildflower native to Texas.
The adventure began, as many adventures do,
at home, with an idea.
Daddy had the idea to go on a bluebonnet hunt.
Mommy thought this was an excellent idea.
Annabelle wondered, What’s a bluebonnet?
Max wondered, Will this adventure have snacks?
(Max LOVES snacks)
The best place to find bluebonnets is out in the country.
Annabelle and Max and Mommy and Daddy
drove out to the country in Daddy’s big truck.
When Daddy finally parked the big truck,
Annabelle and Max were SO excited.
Mommy was excited too, and Daddy was happy.
Annabelle had never seen a bluebonnet before,
and she wanted to see them, touch them, and smell them.
We DON’T taste bluebonnets, because they are NOT food.
Annabelle and Max ran through the big field,
hunting for the best bluebonnet.
Mommy followed close behind them,
hunting for the best bluebonnet photo.
Daddy watched,
happy that his family was enjoying the adventure.
After a long hunt,
Annabelle finally found the best bluebonnet.
She sat down next to it, careful not to hurt it.
(We don’t hurt living things.)
Mommy got her camera ready,
and pulled a doggy treat from her pocket.
“Max, SIT”,
Mommy commanded.
Max sat.
(We should always listen to mommy.)
Mommy gave Max the doggy treat.
Yummy in my tummy!
Mommy took lots and lots of photographs
of Annabelle and Max sitting next to the best bluebonnet.
Annabelle was happy and Max was happy.
Mommy was happy and Daddy was happy.
After a while,
Daddy drove everyone home in the big truck.
Annabelle and Max went to bed,
dreaming of their next adventure.
