Jan Pol
(born on 4 September 1942),
Dr. Jan (Ya-n) Pol is not your typical veterinarian. Born and raised in the Netherlands on his family’s dairy farm, he is the charismatic and world-renowned star of Nat Geo WILD‘s #1 hit series, “The Incredible Dr. Pol,” as well as author of the best-selling book, NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON AN ANGUS COW: My Life as a Country Vet, a memoir that recounts amusing, and often poignant, tales from his illustrious and incredible 45+ year veterinary career.
Possessing brains, wit and charm, Dr. Pol has been treating pets and livestock in rural Michigan since the 1970s and is a pioneer in his field. He has more than 23,000 clients, and his patients range from white mice and snakes to cows and 2,600-pound horses – and everything in between.
In “The Incredible Dr. Pol,” viewers have the opportunity to travel with Dr. Pol across rural Michigan, as he tirelessly cares for every family pet and herd of livestock in need of his expertise and kindness. Unflappable and unstoppable, Dr. Pol routinely puts in 14-hour days making farm calls and treating patients in his very busy clinic. The show celebrated its 100th episode in March 2017, and the new 16th season is airing now on Nat Geo WILD.

Princess Diana
The Princess of Wales is one of the most prominent figures of the British royal family. Although she finds her death in very young age, her achievements will remain forever. She is actively involved in charitable activities and in 2005 received the International Leonardo da Vinci Award, which is awarded for merit in the arts medicine and sports, she donated dresses to support the fight against cancer and AIDS. Like her AIDS efforts, Diana travelled to countries with a high leprosy rate in order to remove the stigma surrounding the disease. As patron of The Leprosy Mission, she visited hospitals in India, Nepal and Zimbabwe and by spending time with patients, she dispelled one of the myths surrounding the illness—that it can be passed on by touch. “It has always been my concern to touch people with leprosy, trying to show in a simple action that they are not reviled, nor are we repulsed,” she said of the disease. Diana displayed a great affinity for young people and became a champion for some the most vulnerable. As patron of The Royal Marsden Hospital, known for treating childhood cancers, and Great Ormand Street Hospital for Children, she was often pictured comforting children and made a personal connection with many.
Nicholas Winton
rescued 669 children from Czechoslovakia on World War II night. Nicholas Winton was a British humanitarian who established an organization to rescue children at risk from Nazi Germany. Winton found homes for the children and arranged for their safe passage to Britain. This operation was later known as the Czech Kindertransport. His work went unnoticed by the world for over 50 years, until 1988 when he was invited to the BBC television programme That’s Life!, where he was reunited with several of the children that he had saved. In 2003, Winton was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for “services to humanity, in saving Jewish children from Nazi Germany occupied Czechoslovakia”.
A number of celebrities did not remain indifferent and set a good example in the fight against the virus – Covid 19. Like George Armani, Bill Gates and many more.

“The human computers”
It was a race to secure America’s future at the forefront of space, fueled by men brave enough to travel where no one had gone before. The astronauts were superstars and engineers the stuff of movie legend. But America’s triumph in the space race was made possible by another group the country didn’t see, reports CBS News correspondent Jan Crawford. They were called “human computers,” women — many of them African-American — hired by NASA to hand calculate propulsion, lift, thrust and trajectory.

Boyan Slat

Slat discontinued his aerospace engineering studies at TU Delft, to devote his time to developing his idea. He founded The Ocean Cleanup in 2013, and shortly after, his TEDx talk went viral after being shared on several news sites.
