OK, I admit it. I may not be objective. I’m addicted to Ourboox, ever since Ran Shternin and I first created this platform six years ago. Since then I’ve published over 1,300 e-books, long, short, funny, sad, with and without illustrations. Children’s books, satire, tips, education, philosophy and you-name-it.
😀
I’ve been writing since I won my first writing award in third grade, for an article on the importance of municipal fluoridation. I was hooked and still am. So here are the reasons that I believe that authors like me can benefit greatly from this platform.
I have published several children’s books here in Israel and several scientific books. It’s true I have not yet published my first children’s book in the US (I stupidly turned down an offer about twenty years ago). On the other hand, over five million people have watched the three TED-Ed videos I wrote over the last few years. That’s not shabby.
One of my books on Ourboox has been read 48,000 times.
And one of my children’s books on Ourboox has been read 15,000 times and was translated into about 20 languages.
When you begin a book on Ourboox, you first create a title for your book (you can change it later). That gets you going. As soon as you type your title, you are already on the first page.
Authors use Ourboox to publish books that are out-of-print and content that they wish to share without a commercial interest.
Authors use Ourboox to create ‘dummy books’ which they can keep private and share with their friends.
Authors can publish translations of their books and thus attract a wider audience.
Authors can post a part of their book to share with the public. They can even add a live hyperlink that allows readers to buy the book.
Authors can remove the book from the Ourboox library whenever they want.
Authors can look for illustrators, editors and other professionals.
Authors can have a personal homepage that features their books and provides links to their accounts on other websites.
