That was Joan’s operator in the agency.

In January 1941, Puyol contacted the British embassy in Madrid and offered a pilgrimage for them, but was rejected by them. He contacted the Abwehr agents and made a pilgrimage for Abwehr in the UK, presenting himself as a staunch supporter of Nazism. They were initially rejected by them too, but finally operated by Major Karl-Erich Kühlenthal of the Avhair station in Madrid, who told him that if he could reach the UK via Lisbon, Portugal, they would consider hiring him. His code names in Nazi intelligence were “Arab” and “Alaric.”
A picture from his retirement ceremony that was very emotional for him.
Joan Pujol’s private life with his wife Orasli was high on loud fights heard by their neighbors. While the branch network required many hours of daily work, Orasley was lonely, living a rather miserable life, and information security considerations prohibited her from contacting the Spanish community in London. She demanded a week to visit her family in Spain. Thomas Harris rejected her request and finally, on June 21, 1942, she threatened Harris that if she could not leave she would contact the Spanish Embassy and report on the entire network. B1A officials tried to find ways to silence her, but eventually the solution that Puyol himself proposed was “resigned,” because of his wife’s threats and “detained” following his resignation. To release him from custody, Oraselli claimed responsibility for his resignation and pledged to return to her request to leave Spain
