Hi, we are Filippo, Federico, Eleonora and Olga! We are sixteen and we are students of liceo IESS.
In this book we will be your guide and we want to share with you our school trip in Verona. We have participated with our class and one-year-older students.
Our trip started at “Piazza Bra”, where we met our guides.
We split in two groups, one directed by Francesco Lenzini and the other one by Federica Castellari.
Then we went to Castelvecchio’s museum and the guide talked about its history and about Cangrande, who was one of the most important person in Verona.
Oh, if I already bored you, you’re free to skip at page 10 whenever you want.
🙂
CASTELVECCHIO & CANGRANDE
We visited this huge fortress, which was built by one of the most important figures in Verona: Cangrande.
It was built next to the Adige river, because it was a defensive resource, in fact the main function was to defend who was inside the castle and it was possibile to escape thanks to a bridge, reserved to royal members.
The figure of Cangrande was so important at that time, that he was given a statue representing himself.
SCALIGERI ARCHES
Here rests the body of Cangrande, who was buried in this place to underline his importance, as in the Scaligeri Arches lie only the most relevant members of their family.
Cangrande was a friend of Dante Alighieri, a distinguished writer, who dedicated to him a part of his most important written production: he mentioned him in the Divine Comedy’s “Paradiso” to express his gratitude.
JULIET’S HOUSE
We’ve started this project as we were studying Romeo and Juliet at school, so we can say that we visited this city to see the house of Romeo’s lover.
Some people see this house just as an awful building. But others as the place where love resides, since the passion of Romeo and Juliet still persists, as love survives even when you have gone to the other world.
If we analyze the story of these two characters, we can also say that Juliet is one of the first female figures with a strong personality, because she was brave enough to not obey to her father. I guess that these are all the main reasons why we study this novel at school 😉 .
We really hope you enjoyed this e-book and we also hope you didn’t immediately skipped at the last page. Nevertheless we would like you to see this short video, that sum up our trip in Verona.
Thanks again for your attention.
In addition to visiting Verona in order to discover its beauty, we also carried out a very fun activity organized by our professors.
It consisted in a series of challenges that have really put us to the test, as most of them asked to interact with passersby, and it is not as easy as we thought.
According to our opinion the funniest one, and the hardest, was to record a video while a foreign person tried to sing “O Sole Mio” in front of the “Porta Borsari”.
It was one of the weirdest experiences we’ve ever had.
