Introduction: Rush is a Canadian band from Toronto Ontario.

The band has a unique style of progressive rock combined with psychedelic rock.

In my opinion, Rush is one of the most underrated supergroups in history.

Members of the group:

Geddy Lee- The bassist and the lead singer of the band

(he’s also Jewish and has family members in Israel).

Neil Peart- The drummer of the band (he’s considered to be one of the best drummers in history).

Alex Lifeson- guitar and vocals (The mastermind behind the music).

Rush formation and successful years:

The band was formed in 1968.  All the members met each other in high school and started to play together in small venues. The band continued to play in pubs and restaurants until they managed to gain a big enough fan base.

In 1974 the band toured across the US and South America where they were highly appreciated.

Rush concerts became famous for their weird atmosphere, mindblowing pyrotechnics, and clever, yet enjoyable and danceable music.

Rush in the media:

As I mentioned before, Rush is a Canadian band and one of Canada’s most popular bands. However, in the US they were in several comedy shows that presented the band as nerdy and boring.

Rush Albums:

Each album of the band tells a different story, mostly a fictional one.  An example is the album 2112 that talks about aliens, or the album Moving Pictures that talks about Canada and Toronto. In that album, there’s even a song called YYZ (Toronto’s airport name).

Rush Sales:

The band released more than 20 albums and was nominated for a grammy a few times. Rush sold more than 50 million albums throughout their career.

The band finally entered the rock n roll hall of fame in 2013 and Rush gained the respect they deserved.

Rush is considered to be revolutionary as well as a great example of complex, yet popular and “understandable” music.

Rush’s Legacy:

As a drummer myself, I think Rush is an absolutely amazing and sophisticated band.

Rush was a big influence on many bands, including Metallica, Alice in Chains, Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Foo Fighters.
