Heraklion o Heraclion is the larges city and the admnistrative capital of
Crete.
It is the fifth city in Greece with a population of 140,730.
The official language is Greek.

KNOSSO
Knossos is the most important archaeological site of the Bronze Age of Crete. It is located in the central part of the island of Crete, 6 km from the sea and 5 km from Heraklion, on the Katsaba river. It was an important center of the Minoan civilization.
HISTORICAL MUSEUM
It is one of the largest and most important museums in Greece, and is among the most important museums in Europe. The exhibits are representative of the prehistory and history of Crete, covering a period of time of over 5,500 years, from the Neolithic to the Roman era. Above all, the collection of Minoan-era antiquities in the archaeological museum of Heraklion is the largest in the world and the museum is considered the museum par excellence of the Minoan civilization. The archaeological museum reopened its halls in May 2014, enlarged and renovated, after a long period of closure.

CATHEDRAL OF SAN MENA
The Cathedral of San Mena is the Orthodox cathedral of Heraklion, on the island of Crete. Construction began on March 25, 1862 and was interrupted due to the Cretan revolution of 1866. The church was completed in early 1895 and inaugurated on April 16, 1895 by Bishop Timothy of Crete. The church is dedicated to San Mena (or San Minas),protector of the city of Candia.
FOUNTAIN MORISINI
The Morosini fountain is located in the center of Iraklio, in Venizelou square. It was built in 1628, by the Venetian commander Francesco Morosini, in the same place where there was already a fountain dating back to the 14th century. It is surrounded by eight pools, decorated with figures from Greek mythology: nymphs, dolphins, tritons, sea monsters, while the main pool is supported by four lions.It is said that originally in the center of the fountain there was an imposing statue depicting Neptune with a trident, and that it was destroyed by an earthquake at the time of Turkish domination.
