A DAY IN A WEEK

“A day in a week” is an international school project. It has been developed to make the students aware of the similiarities and differences between cultures.

Aim of the project

The aim of the project was to decide our typical or favourite day in a week at our schools and share it through a blog , to create awareness for the pupils about the similarities and differences between the schools and a typical/favourite day of the students in Europe, to learn more about different cultures.

• Project Develpoment

1)Introducing ourselves and posting real photos of students on the blog

2)Drawings

3)Making a video and sharing it on the blog

In the first stage;

We posted our photos and introduced ourselves on the blog. But as teachers we didn’t share these photos with the students until the next step was completed.

In the second stage;

We wanted the pupils to imagine and draw some pictures about “How does a Deutch / Czech/ Catalonian/ Turkish kid and school look like ?” . While they were doing the drawings, they were talking about their own perceptions of the other students’ uniforms, clothes, physical appearances, schools etc… This part was very enjoyable and informative. They learnt different things from each other. As an homework assignment, they also discussed their opinions with their parents and the other day we tried to choose the best drawings.Then, we posted our drawings to the blog and looked at the real photos of other students.

In the last stage;

Afterwards, we chose our favourite day as a class to make a video about it and share on the blog. We made some oral practices. And this stage lasted for a few weeks. (May,2015) When we completed this process , we made our video and posted it to the blog. (June,2015)
