Ruth was the daughter of Eglon king of MoaRuth was the daughter of Eglon king of Moav.
She was married to Mahlon, son of Naomi.
She was Naomi’s daughter-in-law, just like Orpah.
When Mahlon, Chilion and Elimelech died, Naomi decided to return to Israel and Ruth wanted to join. At first Naomi tried to persuade Ruth to stay in Moav, but Ruth insisted on coming with her.
When they arrived in Israel, they went to Bethlehem. They were poor so Ruth told Naomi that she would go and collect grains of wheat so they could eat.
When Ruth went to collect the wheat, she met Boaz. Boaz saw that Ruth was the only one who bent over and kept her modesty.
He invited her to dinner with him and Naomi saw it as a possibility to save the family honor so she told Ruth to go. Ruth went and eventually married Boaz.
We adore Ruth because she stayed with Naomi and would starve her in poverty even though she could return to the palace and to wealth. Ruth also remained modest even though she did not have to because she was not Jewish.
The acceptance of the Torah for us is the acceptance of the commandments and the powers God gave us as His chosen people.
And it is also an honor for us to utter the commandments of God which is the greatest of all.
