Once a year, HIT (Holon Institute of Technology) has its exhibition of the final projects of the graduating students in the design faculty. 

They will be leaving to look for a job, a career, a new way in life. 

And so will I. We started together and are leaving together. 

I came to say goodbye.  

As one of their teachers, I wonder whether we have taught them anything significant. Beyond taking plastic, glass, leather, wood, cardboard and turning them into articles of various sizes and shapes. 

Are they more curious? More interested in learning new things? Better able to think for themselves?  

Have we encouraged them to be independent, to create their own briefs? Or just to answer ours. 

Are they better equipped to challenge the status quo? How will they cope with the rapid changes in technologies in their field? 

Have they learned to work in teams? To share as well as compete? 

Will they be able to connect the dots, to think between the boxes? To look for differences, as well as similarities?

As a teacher, where have I assisted them? Where have I failed?

What have I learned over these four years? Am I a better educator? A better person?
