J. K. Rowling, or originally known as Joanne Rowling, has one of the most fascinating struggle stories to recount. From living on welfare to becoming the best selling author, the author has faced many ups and downs throughout. She was born to James and Anne Rowling in Yate, Gloucestershire, England. Due to her passion for writing fiction stories, she began writing at the tender age of 5. Ever since then, Rowling has penned down numerous tales. She graduated from the University of Exeter in BA in French and Classics in 1986.
While on a journey from Manchester to London, she pictured a boy with specs and his antics. Bewildered by the idea of the story about the wizardry boy, she instantly started penning down her ideas. In 1995, her manuscript for the “Harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone” got completed. The manuscript got rejected from 12 publishers, but was given a thumbs up from the Barry Cunningham of Bloomsbury. 500 copies of the first book of the series were distributed to the libraries, which turned out to be a great hit.
Today, the Harry Potter franchise has earned $15 billion and is a world-wide brand. Rowling has won many awards and prizes for the series and her other literary works. And above all, she has won billions of hearts.
