Who are The Amish? What is their origin?
The Amish are an American group with around 200,000 members European who came to the USA more than two centuries ago to escape persecution.
They are known mainly because of their special lifestyle.
Where do they live?
After initially settling in Ohio, they are now found in 30 states as well as Canada. Ohio has the largest Amish population, followed by Pennsylvania and Indiana.
What thier lifestyle?
Clothing: The Amish style is very simple.
The men wear overalls and a shirt with different colors.
The women wear long bonnet dresses with long sleeves and an apron.
Homes: The Amish build their houses together with the community with trees.
They do not have electrical home or electronic products.
Occupations:
The Amish are mainly engaged in carpentry, agriculture, baking and sewing.
Family life:
The Amish invest heavily in their family life.
Education:
The Amish children laern 8 years in special school and then they go to work on they parent’s farms.
Religion:
Amish celebrate the same holy days as other Christians.

They use a horse and buggy instead of car.

Why do they choose this way of life?
The amish choose this way because they want get closer to the family, community and religion.
They don’t use technology or electricity.
