Chapter 1: the escape

when I was a boy my life was very complicated.

The only thing I cared about was living my life as I wanted it: without constraints and civilization.
Civilization … I never liked this word and in fact, I always tried to escape from it.

After many adventures, I was adopted by the family of the uncles of Tom Sawyer, my dear friend, with whom I made many plans to succeed once and for all to escape from the dreaded civilization

I built a raft with some lumber from the woods and once again I went sailing on the Mississippi River without a precise destination, but with the desire to run away from everyone.

In the beginning, I sailed for a long time without ever stopping, feeding only on what nature gave me, like fish and fruits.

I still remember the fear of the night, I slept only the necessary and every time I heard a noise I woke up scared.

one night, for example, while I was resting, my raft docked on a bank of the river. When I woke up I realized that half of the raft had broken and I was sinking. I repaired that piece in a few days and continued the journey

Chapter 2: NEW ORLEANS

 after a few months, I stopped in New Orleans … here everything was different, people were simpler and the way of life was very close to mine.
I went around the country to find a family that could adopt me … a country family, but I did not find anyone at the beginning.

One day, taken by hunger, I stole a loaf of bread and was chased by the owner.

the latter, however, saw in my eyes as a child a glimmer of hope and accompanied me to his house. Here his wife prepared me some food and a warm bed … I was finally part of a real family.

I grew more and more and became a man, I started working with my adoptive father in his bakery and slowly I made a name for myself in this field … everyone wanted to buy bread from me.

one day while I was going to work on a bicycle I stumbled and fell to the ground … a very kind girl helped me to get up again, a love story started between us that led me to the creation of a new family. I had 3 children whom I love with all my heart: Caroline, Broke, and Justin.

from then on my life was fantastic, I also tried to get back to my old friends, like Tom and Jim.
I discovered that Tom also had a family and now lived in the east of Virginia, while Jim died a few years after my escape, taken from a heart attack.

Chapter 3: End 

Now I am sixty years old I look at my past life, thinking that not every obstacle I have faced has made me grow, making the person I am now.
