The United States constitution was written in the year 1787 in Philidalphia.
The Constitution was written to be the “law of the land”. This document would dictate how life was to be carried out in the United States.
Even though this document was written so long ago, it is still used today. The constitution was written as a working document. This meant that it could be changed over the years and this is why it is still applicable today.
As the United States has changed over the years, there has been a need for the Constitution to change. This, along with people believing that there must be rights laid out in the constitution, lead to being able to change, or amend the constitution. https://www.archives.gov/federal-register/constitution
The constitution was written to benefit the people. This document is known as being written “by the people, for the people”.
