What is a tsunami?
A tsunami is a large ocean wave usually caused by an underwater earthquake or a volcanic explosion. Tsunamis are NOT tidal waves. Tidal waves are caused by the forces of the moon, sun, and planets upon the tides, as well as the wind as it moves over the water. With typical waves, water flows in circles, but with a tsunami, water flows straight. This is why tsunamis cause so much damage!
What does the word “tsunami” mean?
Tsunami (soo-NAH-mee) is a Japanese word meaning harbor wave.
How are tsunamis generated?
Tsunamis are generated by any large, impulsive displacement of the sea level. The most common cause of a tsunami is sea floor uplift associated with an earthquake. Tsunamis are also triggered by landslides into or under the water surface, and can be generated by volcanic activity and meteorite impacts.

hello friends we want
We wanted to tell you about the tsunami we saw in Thailand. It was really scary. We saw it from a distance and it happened very quickly and we saw people who fled because they were terrified of the tsunami. This was a huge wave that covered the entire city. All the people were in a panic and ran away quickly to a high place. It was really scary to see it happen. But it was really cool. Tsunami is a really great experience but scary and interesting. Seeing it in reality is really different Than watching it on television. In short you would not want to experience it even though it looks cool remotely. But it is not. In addition to this it is also very dangerous and it can kill a lot of people.
