Saving the Planet

Today my wife Shuli (CEO of Ourboox) and I met with our friend, Asher Grinbaum, whose day job is being Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ICL (Israel Chemicals Ltd.). 

We took a selfie. Our hearts were in the right place. The camera wasn’t.

When we meet Asher, the small talk lasts only a few minutes. Then we get down to business. This time the subject of our talk was “Saving the Planet”.

After all, Ourboox is a self-publishing website. We have 2,700 paperless online books, and we just started. 

Imagine how many trees we will have saved when we have a million books!!!

Like billions of others alive today, I worry about what life will be like for my granddaughter when she grows up. 

Will she live in a world of health and safety, or danger and predicament?

Will there still be global warming? How much of it is our own fault? What can we do about it?

Many years ago (almost thirty, actually), I invented a two-phase mouthwash. Millions of bottles are sold each year in many countries. 

Is the bottle biodegradable? Recyclable? Are the chemicals toxic to wildlife? Do they degrade over time? What carbon footprint is left by their manufacture?  I never paid enough attention. 

Asher talked about the efforts that his company are making to reduce carbon dioxide emission, pollution, to act responsibly, to show product stewardship. 

I guess that if companies are doing it these days, we should do it. To save the planet.
