Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Meltdown

The book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Meltdown” by Jeff Kinney was published on October 30th in 2018. The book is mainly about how Gregg is really worried about global warming. He seems frustrated by the fact that he is the only worried one in the house about it. As time went passing he would research about the Earth’s warmth, and would panic even more. Gregg insisted to his parents to buy a house on the mountains in case the ice melt all the way. Gregg and Rowley decide to not take the bus one day after school, but that was the worst decision they’ve done due to the fact that there rivals started chasing them while throwing big snowballs at them. They both quickly ran into the woods which was a theory that there was a goat man there, they both ran like crazy and got to a camp. and found a way to quickly dash out of the camp. The next day his mother was out and he was alone with his brother Rodrick (his brother has also been a bully to him). Although they were alone they both had chores to do. When Gregg was done some of his chores he noticed that his mom also put to go out and play with the snow so he went out and called Rowley and made a fort and ended up in a snowball battle against the group of kids they really hate. They ended up loosing and ran away to a safe place where the group of kids didn’t find them. Gregg is hopeful that everyone loves his idea of robots living with humans to help save the planet. Gregg also says that if humans are alive from 500,000 million years from now it’ll be thanks to him with his great idea.The book also takes place in two months January and February.

Gregg is a nerdy kid that loves to explore and also worries about big news.

Mom is a mother that wants her kids to explore more, and loves dad.

Dad is a nerd like his son Gregg and is always out with mom.

Rodrick is a band player who is a bully and dedicate most of his time to his band to get at girls with his friends.

Rowley is dumb most of the time as well as really nice. He is a nerd as well.

Creativity- the use of imagination or your own idea.

Hibernate- to spend winter in a dormant state.

Global warming- is a long term rise in the average temperature of the Earth’s climate system, an aspect of climate change shown by temperature measurements and by multiple effects of the warming.

Ice caps- a covering of ice over a large area, especially on the polar region of a planet.

Snowplow- an implement or vehicle for clearing roads of snow by pushing it aside.

imagination- the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses.

nursery- a room in a house for the special use of young children

frostbite- injury to body tissues caused by exposure to extreme cold, typically affecting the nose, fingers, or toes and sometimes resulting in gangrene.

(He then says he heard that the ice caps are melting and the seas is rising and he was trying to convince his parents to buy a house higher up on their hill so that they can avoid the water for longer, but his parents aren’t too concerned.) This explains how worried Gregg is about earth and also how he was the only one worrying about it.

(Greg also says that his mom says that she wants him to make some new friends. But with the exception of Rowley, he has no chance to befriend an another child.)   This explains how Gregg doesn’t want new friends and how he is okay with Rowley even though he is not the most popular.

The book was pretty interesting, I would recommend this book because I’m a person that likes when there is mostly comedy and entertainment in something I’m reading by the fact that I’m not a reader. Most books have comedy but just on portions of the book, this one involves mostly everything in a entertaining way.
