One Saturday morning after her 7th birthday, Grace’s parents have brought her a new pink bike and a new pink helmet as a big present. “You can learn to ride your bike if you want to, Grace.” said her dad.

2

Grace sat on her new bike and she put the bike helmet on her head. “When you ride your new bike, you must wear your bike helmet at all times!” said her dad. “Why?” she asked.

3

“Because when you ride on your new bike without your bike helmet,  you won’t be safe at all, so you might fall over and go to hospital.” said Grace’s mum.

4

Grace was riding on her new bike with her bike helmet on her head and turned right on the pavements. “Let’s get you safe, Grace. We’ll go behind you.” said her dad.

5

Grace was smiling. “I love my new bike and my new bike helmet!” she said happily, and one of her friends from school said hello to her. “Alex! It’s you from St. Bishop’s Primary School!” she said again.

6

“I’m riding on my bike too. How are you?” asked Alex. “I’m happy on my new bike. What colour is your bike and helmet, Alex?” asked Grace. “My bike is blue and my helmet is blue and red with stripes on.” he said.

7

Grace said goodbye to Alex and she was turning left to go to one of the shops. “Shall we go to Tesco Express, Mummy?” she asked. “We’ve got £40.00. What would you like to buy?” asked her dad.

8

Grace left her bike and helmet safe and went to Tesco Express. “I’m going to buy some pork hotdogs from Herta, a chocolate lollipop, Nobbly Bobbly ice lollies and a kids ready meal!” she said.

9

“What kids ready meal, Grace?” asked Grace’s dad. “I would like a kids sausage and mash ready meal, Daddy.” said Grace. “Let’s pay for all our groceries as a treat!” he said.

10

Grace and her parents paid for their groceries as a treat and she went back on her bike. “Let’s go home now, okay?” asked her mum. “Okay, Mummy and Daddy.” she said, and they all went straight home.

11

“Let’s unpack the shopping then.” said Grace’s dad, and she went to watch her mum unpack the shopping. “We have to have lunch soon, so do you want your ready meal?” she asked.

12

“Yes, please!” said Grace, and she ate her chocolate lollipop. “Can I have a bit of chocolate, Grace?” asked her dad. “No, thank you.” she said, and she will enjoy her ready meal for lunch, so she loved her new bike and her new bike helmet.
