Long Beach, Long Island

Hi My name is Eric, it is a warm summer day and I am visiting my grandparents in long beach.

There is so much to do at long beach. Of course, there’s my favorite thing to do which is swimming! I see so many lifeguards who are standing around the beach to make sure we are all safe, and help those who cannot swim.

Another thing I am going to do, which I am a little nervous about is surfing classes. Here, the instructors are teaching myself and others how to balance on a board. They are also teaching us the correct strokes to do while in the water.

That’s only the summer jobs though that people may have. My grandparents told me there’s also many main jobs to work for throughout the year. Those include various maintenance and management teams. All of these work their hardest to make sure that long beach is kept clean and safe for every living thing.

First, is the sanitation and recycling team. They pick up garbage outside houses. They also pick up recyclables.

Beach maintenance is needed not only during the summer, but year round too. As apart of beach maintenance, they are responsible for cleaning the boardwalk and beaches.

Sewer Maintenance works with the sewer systems in the town. They sometimes will repair what sanitation has collected. They also fix the manholes throughout the town. Finally, they clean up and repair storm drains.

The municipal building is the last major job in Long beach. Here these workers are responsible for repairing and maintaining all building and city properties. They also handle heating, air and building equipment.

I had so much fun in long beach and learning and informing whoever reads this on all the beauties that long beach contains! I am so glad that my grandparents told me about all of jobs to do in long beach! Maybe one day I will work here! Until then happy surfing!
