An odd Santa

Preface

A story about an “Odd Santa Claus” who meets other odd characters in his journey to bring presents to kids……an odd elf, an odd reindeer, an odd star, an odd bell, an odd child..meet together and finally help Santa to bring the Christmas spirit and the desirable presents. Only this time even these will be odd and different!

A theatrical play written by the teacher of Music Mrs Maria Xenidou for the needs of the project Erasmus + KA2 with the title:

“The odd one….IN !”

The realisation of this ambitious idea was made possible with the unique little students of A class and their teachers Mrs Eftyhia Fragouli and Ms Barbara Pagratides

Thanks to Mr Vassilis Liaouris, the Art teacher, this little book has got pictures and colours!

The play was also performed on stage by little students on December 23^rd, in the show given by students of A class for celebrating Christmas.

Scene 1

Santa Claus is at home with his wife.

Santa: Darling…where are you?

(Looking at the audience) Where has she gone? I’m afraid she’s getting too old …and deaf!

Wife : Good grief! What are you shouting for?? Here I am ….what do you want me to do?

Santa: What do I want? Are you truly asking me? Where is my uniform? I have to leave and I’m still not ready at all…..

Wife: The same thing again and again! Every year …leaving me home alone and you?…..you are running here and there …to do what?? I’m fed up! Enough is enough! Here’s the iron board…here’s the iron you can get your uniform ready by yourself!

Santa: Are you gone crazy? How can I do that? Do you really believe I know how?

Wife: Well, it’s high time you learnt! Better late than never…See you , dear!

Scene 2

Elves

Elf 1 : Here comes the day

That we all can’t wait for

Presents, ready everywhere

For the kids to enjoy and more!

Elf 2 : colourful boxes

With ribbons and bows

Filled with kids’ presents

For the New year that comes.

Elf 3 : We are ready , we are happy

That the time has come

for our big boss Santa

to be back in action and run!

Elf 4 : All together loving ……… All together a big hug

Only one is left aside…….Who cares? So what?

Elf 5 : He doesn’t even look like us

His ears are so weird!

He claims to be a little elf

Come on! … Is he kidding me?

Elf 6 : Leave him alone …leave him back

Last year Santa brought him in

How do you think he can ever become

An odd elf in?

Santa: Is everything ready?

Elves: Gosh! Who are you? We don’t know you!

Santa : Come on! Are you out of your mind? It’s me! Father Christmas!

Elf 7 : A Santa with no cape?

I don’t believe a single word

You ‘re fooling us just like the other..

You’re not coming for all the world!

Santa ( approaching the ODD elf ) : Why are you standing there alone?

Elf 8 : Nobody here believes me….

I’m a real elf .. I would never lie

I am different say…

I should leave the place or fly…

Will you take me to be your companion?

I can help you, you will see…..

You don’t match either but I don’t care…

You are real for me and I will be there!

Santa: Off we go, then my little elf! Our journey is now beginning!

Scene 3

Reindeer

Reindeer 1 : The night has finally come

The journey hopefully begins

I will fill my tummy with hay

Lots of work to be done …not stay!

Reindeer 2; A load of excellent presents I carry

Prepared with special care and love

Through the sky I will run

To find the kids and offer fun!

Reindeer 3: Not even a moment I will stop

Running and running in the sky

Oh! where can the big boss be?

He’s never late …why? Why?

Reindeer 4 : Hey You….Get your horns straight…

Get ready …don’t delay!

He’s coming sooner or later

He knows better, anyway…

Reindeer 5: Don’t look like this poor one

Who can never stand upright

And bears just a single horn

Goofy type or am I wrong?4

Reindeer 6: We are so tired….isn’t that enough?

Why do we need him in our legs?

Going here going there

All day long……. Phew…I need some air!

Santa: Are you all ready?

Reindeer: Who are you? We don’t know you!

Santa: Are you crazy….It’s me Father Christmas!

Reindeer 7: A Santa with no cap?

You are kidding…..aren’t you?

Step aside ..there’s no time

We are working …can’t stay behind!

Santa (addressing to the ODD reindeer): Why are you staying alone over here?

Reindeer 8: It’s my faulty horn I guess

That mixes everybody up

But I’m a reindeer ……indeed!

Can’t I fit? What do you think?

Will you take me to be your companion?

I can help you, you will see…..

You don’t match either but I don’t care…

You are real for me and I will be there!

Santa: Off we go then my little reindeer! Our journey is now beginning!

Scene 4

Little stars

Star 1 : Up in the sky

A glowing ladder we are building

the streets to fill with light

and make a magical night!

Star2 : our shinning beams of light

Will make a magic carpet

Reaching the Earth in a fountain

From the sky and back again

Star 3 : This is the way our dear Santa

Will find a magic path

The Christmas presents to deliver

To every house that a child hath..

Star 4 : the time has come

Get ready …..get in the line

My goodness….what are you doing here?

You are standing in our way you don’t match…

Star 5 : your light is not bright at all

we have nothing in common

You look different … you look odd

You are spoiling our glowing ladder

Star 6: Can’t you hear? Step aside

There’s nothing for you to do

Stars ….get ready .. get bright

the village is waiting for you

Santa : Is everything ready?

Stars : Who are you ? WE don’t know you , do we?

Santa : Are you crazy little stars ? It’s me ! Father Christmas!

Star 7 : A Santa with no boots? …

You are not real…You are fake

Step aside ….get out of our way…

You are spoiling our fairytale…

Santa (addressing the little odd star) : Hey you….Why are sitting alone?

Star 8 : Calm down dear Santa

I am not so shiny as them, I see..

I will be able to light you the way, though

Because I’m full of love, that’s what I know.

Will you take me with you?

I can help you…you will see!

Santa : Off we go my little star! Our journey is now beginning!

Scene 5

Bells

Bell 1 : Jingle bells jingle bells

Jingle all the magic way!

Wake the whole world up

Christmas is coming!

Bell 2 : within the silent night

Our sweet ringing you hear

Will make your souls recall

It’s high time … come on!

Bell 3 : Little kids are longing for

jingle here , jingle there…

Happy jingle everywhere

Coming out of the ringing bells..

Bell 4 : jingle all together,jingle!

Spread the festive spirit loud

Let our singing reach all people

To the farthest place around.

Bell 5 : All together ? … you must be joking!

What about this one here?

Don’t you recall her voice when singing

She doesn’t even belong in here?

Bell 6 : You ruin the harmony

You don’t even sound correct.

The only thing you make is noise

Go back …don’t make a step!

Santa: Is everything ready?

BELLS: Who are you? We don’t know you!

Santa : Are you crazy? It is me! Father Christmas!

Bell 7: A Santa with no sack? No presents?

What are you going to give the kids?

You are surely making fun of us..

Get out of here! Leave us alone!

Santa: Hey you! ..Why are you so lonely?

Bell 8 : I am a poor bell, don’t you see?

With ugly voice and ugly sight

Nobody wants me to be here

On this beautiful and magic night!

Will you take me with you Santa?

I can ring for you, you’ll see!

if you differ I don’t care

I am sure you are real….It is not fair!

Santa: Off we go my little friend!

Scene 6

CHILDREN

Child 1 : Time has come , at last! it’s true! !

We’ve been waiting for so long!

I can’t wait to hold and open

The present I expect and really want!

Child 2: I am not a naughty child

I always try to be nice..

I give my love to everybody

I am glad and I can smile!

Child 3: What somebody looks like

Little difference does it make

It’s the heart and feelings only..

That’s what matters…don’t forget!

Child 4 : What if we all were the same?

Imagine how boring this would be!

Being different my friend, being unique

Makes life sweeter makes life worth!

Child 5 : I don’t care if you wear braces

I don’t care if you wear specs

I don’t care if your eyes are black or cold

I just know you have a heart of gold!

Child 6: It doesn’t matter where you come from

It doesn’t matter how you speak.

Hold my hand, hold me tight

Let’s walk together, we can be bright!

Child 7: Here comes old Santa Claus

Here comes the time!

No cape no boots no cap?

Who cares? come on! This is not a crime!

Child 8: Just look into his eyes

And see the real love he has

The love he keeps in heart

Ready to share with all of us!

Scene 7

PRESENTS

Santa: Yet, there is somebody who recognizes me …Not everything is lost! Who’s that?

The kids, of course! This year though I am bringing different presents! A different Santa brings different presents as well…Possibly more useful and more important for everybody!

HEALTH : From the bottom of my heart

Health for everybody I wish!

Nothing really matters more

If our good health is gone!

JOY: I wish you joyful and happy

Every single moment in your life to be!

No sorrow, no tears

In a life full of cheers!

PEACE: Stop fighting! Stop war!

Who benefits from this?

All together live in peace

It’s a new year coming! Forget the old!

EQUALITY: Yes, Indeed we are all equal!

Don’t forget! You can’t!

People of the same planet

People of a beautiful world!

LOVE: Love each other, love the whole world

Look deeply in other’s heart

Nestling there is true love!
