Introduction

I walked into Year 4 in 2016, after relocating from Ethiopia, and through the door I went, into 4C. Quite used to walking into classes first time, so not at all nervous. Year 4 was a breeze, Year 5 was fast, and here is Year 6, and me typing about it. This book is about my interesting life in CIS, and my days before Secondary School.

                                        YEAR 4

Year 4 was quite…interesting. This was when I first entered CIS, and I got used to it pretty quickly and made friends, like Kelechi and Mandy. My teacher Mr Ngulele and Miss Toyin, and things changed later when Mrs Onwukwe joined in.  Year 4 was quite fast, mainly because of the tons of public holidays that followed.

                                             Year 5

Here is the fast Year 5 I mentioned earlier, it was a lot more challenging than I thought although that doesn’t surprise me too much, but the really interesting parts are the field trips (All will be mentioned later) like the conversation center that showed me a lot of animals. Year 5 was just work all the way, and I had to DANCE for a school production, which I never saw coming.

5

                                      Year 6

Year 6, the one thing I can remember very well, anyways, it’s about to end and it has changed A LOT, like me doing this memory book instead of the memory CD we always do. We had way more responsibilities and the younger ones looked up to us, and homework was the one thing that would stress me, as there was way more homework that I could handle, and a lot of 3D projects, so I had to get ready for that, I had to make the most out of it.

                                   What I had learn’t

We learn’t A LOT in Year 6, and had A LOT of assessments when the term almost came to an end. Anyways, in Numeracy, we learn’t about fractions, decimals, quadrilaterals, Area and Perimeter and so on. The homework, however, came EVERY SINGLE DAY of Year 6, until the last week, when we never got homework. (and I still don’t) I had to figure out how to stop and think about what I am doing and see if it’s right and learn about the 7 habits. In Literacy we learn’t about persuasive devices to use, and we are making an advert for Year 1, so I have to apply what I learn’t on that day.

                                      Swimming Gala

Ah, the swimming gala, this school is known for events, and this is one of them, I’ve been in 3 of them, and I always got the board, and this year was no different, I should’ve ditched the board this time.

8

                                          Sports Day

Sports Day. It was when everybody had to run in a race and we had to see who won, everybody ran for their houses, and I had to run for Acacia  and (again) I came last in my race…. I don’t really do well in sports, that’s what I’ve noticed.

                                        Field Trips

There were quite a lot of field trips in my life in CIS, and these are the ones i’ll tell you about. I remember a field trip we did, and we went to Bread Lounge, it was quite interesting, we had to follow the instructions they told us to do, and we had to listen to those safety rules. We also went to an Art Gallery to write down about art and their creators. Year 5, we went to a conservation center to see different animals of various shapes and sizes.

                                        Explore Africa

This was a project we did about countries we hardly knew about, to do a booklet AND a presentation about it, which lasted 4 weeks, and every class was divided into 2 groups, and my group was Cameroon, which won the competition, even though everyone got the prize.
