What is wudu?
wudu also known in Arabic as: الوضوء al-wuduʼ, is the Islamic procedure for cleaning and washing parts of the body to create purification. Wudu involves washing the hands, mouth, nostrils, arms, head and feet with water. It is a fundamental element of cleaning and plays an important key of purity in Islam.
Why is wudu important?
the prophet mohammed would announce that ‘cleanliness is half of faith’. Wudu is the washing of body performed by Muslims before prayer. it is believed that muslims should be clean and wear good clothes before they present themselves for God.
How to do wudu?
In islam there 73 sects in which the prophet has discussed in the Quran. it is important to know that each sect follows different teachings in reference to the Hadiths of the prophets companions. As a sunni, you begin by making niyyah. a niyyah is an intention towards god that you will clean yourself and make your soul and mind pure for prayer. You begin by saying “bismillah nirahman niraheem”, then make the intention and say “o allah I am purifying myself for prayer, ameen”.
after making Niyyah, you wash your hands. start off with washing the right hand, then wash the left hand.
Take the water into your mouth, gurgle and rinse it three times. Then you Inhale water into your nose, three times.
after you cleaned your nose, you splash water your face, three times. then wash your lower arms from wrists to elbows, leaving no part dry. Clean your head, three times. Wipe your ears inside and out, three times. wash both of your feet three times. Once you have done your wudu, you say “bismillah”, then your wudu is compleat and you prepare yourself for prayer.
