# 218 – The UN

Well, if I entitle this the usual ‘Letter from Israel’, so many would leave reading it ‘until later’.

My separate email reminds you of how fed up many of us sensible people are.

Some years ago, this same UN said ‘Zionism is Racism’. The recent vote for Palestinian recognition was just as naïve and… stupid.

But if it leads to peace, I shall not only eat my words…

The increased settlements in the West Bank? Give me strength…They worry that the capital of a future Palestine (East Jerusalem) will be cut off from the rest of the country.

Haifa does not feel cut off from Jerusalem here in Israel, despite the fact that almost a million Arabs live in the area between the 2 cities. (They happen to be Israeli Arabs – Palestinians, call them what you will. Peace brings peace).

France is one of the countries that called in the Israeli ambassador for a dressing down. Even threatening to withdraw their ambassador from Israel. Ooooh…The supportive and fair World we live in does not have 1 ambassador in the capital of Israel. So why should we care?

A reminder that surely the safest place these days in the Middle East for a Palestinian is, perhaps arguably, Israel. This is an incredible situation, considering how much the Palestinians and their Arab neighbours have tried to destroy Israel. Perhaps we should stop being ridiculously politically-correct and introduce the UN equivalent of sharia law in Israel. That’s the last thing the Israeli Arab wants.

Btw – During discussions with friends recently, I was again accused of being too far to the Left. I have at least 3 recipients of this Letter who think I am ‘far to the Right’.

Just call me Pohlmann the Pendulum…
