Tommy is happy.

Today is his first day at school.

Tommy has a new pencil case. In the pencil case there is a brown pencil, a white eraser, red scissors and a yellow glue stick.

The brown pencil case opens his long mouth and says, “look at me, I am the best. I can write and erase. I can do it, yes I can.”

“No No”, says the white eraser. I can erase big things. I can do it, yes I can.”

The red scissors laughs, “ha ha ha, both of you can’t do what I can do. I can cut out all different shapes.”

“Wait”, the yellow glue stick says to the scissors. “You need me to glue the shapes together. I can do it, yes I can.”

Tommy takes the brown pencil out of the pencil box and draws a butterfly.

“Ooops”, Tommy makes a mistake, so he takes out the white eraser and erases.

Then, Tommy takes out the red scissors and cuts out the butterfly.

The yellow glues stick is sad, “oh no, I am all by myself and it is dark in here”, he says.

Tommy puts his hand into the pencil case and takes out the yellow glue stick.

Tommy glues little eyes on the butterfly.

“See”, says the pencil case, “all of you are special and together you made a beautiful butterfly.”

“You are right”. says the brown pencil.

“We made a big mistake”, says the white eraser.

“We are all different shapes”, says the red scissors.

“We need to stick together”, says the yellow glue stick.

The brown pencil, the white eraser, the red scissors and the yellow glue stick yelled out loud, “we can do it, yes we can!”
