Dear Diary,

WW2 is finally over- 5 long years of fighting came to an end and I’m back at home now. During the war, I was a commander of a company- 200 of our finest man.

They really became brothers, and I was like their father. We all took care of each other, and put others welfare and even lives before our own. Once, It was so raining and I couldn’t find any of my dry socks, so my soldiers game their own dry socks and walked around in wet socks.

The war wasn’t easy, and more than a half of the company died. I felt responsible, as a commander, to their death and also a little guilty that I’m alive while they are dead. I wondered, how am I better than them? And had no answer.

My only comfort during the war was the hope that it will create a better American society, with solidarity between citizens like the one between soldiers. A society witch scarified its best young man in an endeavor to keep justice and freedom should become better and that is what I was sure will happen- and I couldn’t be more wrong. Everything remained the same- everyone living their life as a rat race, chasing more money, a bigger house and a better car. People making money of the war industry, some of them putting their business over soldiers live by selling chip parts.
