My Favorite Holiday

My favorite holiday is Succot. Succot falls during September or October.  The Hebrew date is the 15th of Tishrei.

We build a succa outside of our house.  The family eats in the succa.  We invite friends over to enjoy the succa with us.

Succot lasts for seven days. We call succot the time of our happiness.

The holiday of Succot is from the Torah. We have the mitzvah of lulav and etrog on Succot.

We spend nights and days in the succa during Succot. Some people sleep in their succa.

People hang beautiful pictures and other decorations in their succa. The roof of the succa is made of branches so that you can see the stars when you are inside the succa and you look out.

I love Succot because fall is my favorite season and I like to be with my family to eat and enjoy the outdoors. We celebrate together and are sad when the holiday is over and we have to take down our succa.
