The poem
It was a long time ago.
I have almost forgotten my dream.
But it was there then,
In front of me,
Bright like a sun—
My dream.
And then the wall rose,
Rose slowly,
Slowly,
Between me and my dream.
Rose until it touched the sky—
The wall.
Shadow.
I am black.
I lie down in the shadow.
No longer the light of my dream before me,
Above me.
Only the thick wall.
Only the shadow.
My hands!
My dark hands!
Break through the wall!
Find my dream!
Help me to shatter this darkness,
To smash this night,
To break this shadow
Into a thousand lights of sun,
Into a thousand whirling dreams
Of sun!
A letter to the poet
Dear Langston Hughes,
I read you poem ” As I grew older”, it was really interesting and I felt like it has many meanings, eventhough you were talking about the way you could overcome the obstacles such as prejudice and achieve your dream, it looked like this poem was related to every single one of us, anyone might face ups and down in thei lives, some of them are so hard to defeat that they end up being miserable, but that didnt happen to you, you were strong enough to make your dream come true.
After reading this poem I feel more opened to the world and I know that not everyone lives an easy life and get all what they need to reach their goals.
I hope you countinue tp write these meaningful poems that encourage us and gives us hope in addition to confidence in our hard times, because some times when Im feeling down and I think that Im facing an impossible problem, Iremember the way you destroyed the wall with what was related to that time as a “weakness point”
I know that nothing is impossible.

my dream
I have many dreams in life and especially now because Im experiencing many new things in life which Ididnt know before, I just want to do and achieve as much as I can in a day and see new things all the time.
as for my biggest dream which is success, I get closer and closer to it each and every day, and I try as hard as I can.
By success I dont only mean in school or studying, its also in being different and special, I dont want to live that life with the same stereotypes where you cant shine or be different.
I think that anyone can be special if they believe that they really are something else.
