Alex Aytor

left his glasses

on the nose

of an alligator

2

He thought it was the cover of

A green leather book

But it wasn’t

He just didn’t look.

3

And that is how Mr. Aytor

Left his glasses on the nose

Of an alligator

4

So while Mr. Aytor

Was looking around

All over town

Trying to find where his glasses had gone

The alligator had them on.

5

The alligator was angry

At Mr. Aytor

For leaving the glasses on his nose

Not having any way

To take them off or make them go away.

6

They both walked blindly about town

The alligator,

Wearing the glasses of Mr. Aytor,

And Mr. Aytor,

His glasses on the nose of that alligator.

7

They crashed into benches

And every tree

Because, you see

Neither could see.

8

Finally Mr. Aytor

Bumped into the alligator

In the lobby of a building

(right near the elevator).

9

“May I have my glasses please,”

Asked Mr. Aytor,

I’m so sorry I mistook

You for the cover

Of a book.

10

“Yes, please take back your glasses

So both of us can see,”

Answered the alligator

To Mr. Aytor

11

Mr. Aytor removed the glasses,

And took a closer look,

Indeed he had not placed them

On the cover of a book.

12

“Thank you”, said Mr. Aytor

“Have a lovely day,

And please do come and visit

If you ever pass my way.”

13

But before Mr. Aytor was out the door

The alligator crossed the floor

14

And only one of them,

Walked out the door.
