Christmas is in the air….
We start Christmas time decorating our houses.
Most Italians make decorations on the 8th December because
it is a national holiday
Christmas in Italy
In Italy at Christmas time people decorate their homes, trees and cribs are built to depict the birth of Christ.
A few days before Christmas children write a letter of what they would like to see under the tree and send them to Santa Claus. Children usually leave milk and cookies for Santa Claus under the tree and some carrots for his reindeer.
On Christmas day children find under the tree a lot of wonderful presents. After that the kids open their presents they prepare the Christmas lunch which is usually roasted chicken. In the afternoon they go to church for Christmas Mass.

I love Christmas!
On 24th December I decorate our Christmas tree with my family.
On Christmas Eve I decorate my home with holly, mistletoe, wreath, tinsels and lights.
On Christmas morning I always open my presents with my brother and my sister, after that we have a big breakfast.
Then, at twelve o’ clock we go to my grandmother’s house and we have a big lunch.
For lunch we eat “tortellini” (a type of hand-made pasta), roast chicken and “polpettone” (minced meat with parmesan cheese and some vegetables in it).
For dessert we have “zuppa inglese” (a sort of custard cream, chocolate cream and biscuits with a red liquor), a Christmas cake and sweets.
In the afternoon I play with my cousin and we exchange presents.
Later we play board games, light sparkles and go home.
This is my Christmas! What about you?

Christmas is my favourite time of year. We start our Christmas on the 8th December, with the Christmas tree. We decorate it with lights, candle and others decorations.
I love buying presents for my relatives, but I also love receiving presents for me from my relatives and friends.
On Christmas Eve my mother cooks pasta with fish, and fish in general and she invites our friends for a dinner together ,and we stay in my house from eight o’clock to midnight.
On Christmas morning I find a lot of presents under the Christmas tree, from Santa Claus and his reindeers!
At midday we go to my grandparents’ house for lunch, and we exchange our presents. We eat “cappelletti” or “tortelli verdi”, typical handmade pasta of my area, and for dessert we have “zuppa inglese” or “tiramisù”.
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

Xmas Main Course and Side Dishes
For main course my family and I eat

Xmas Desserts
For desserts we eat a lot:
typical Italian Christmas desserts are
pandoro and panettone (a soft cake with raisin or candied fruit);
sometimes we eat sweets and mascarpone
(a delicious creamy desert made of fresh cheese, eggs and sugar).

At midnight we put our Christmas letter for Santa Claus on the trees and next we go to bed.
On Christmas morning we find a lot of small and big presents under the tree. Then we go to church to celebrate the Birth of Christ. On our way home we usually sing some Christmas songs together and we dance with joy.At 1.30 we have Christmas lunch.First we eat a big appetizer, then we eat a lot of baked pasta,a lot of different types of meat, soup, vegetables and dried fruit. For dessert we eat ‘’PANETTONE’’and we toast with champagne.
In the afternoon, with all the relatives,we play board games,in particular we play bingo for two or three hours. In Italy we also celebrate the day of ‘’Santo Stefano’’ on the 26th of December.
On this day my family and I go to see the lights in the town centre or in a different city in the evening.

My Christmas Holiday
This year for my Christmas holiday I am going to Ancona and then to Naples .
In Ancona I spend Christmas lunch with my grandparents and then my family and I go to Cupra to visit my uncle-in-law. We are usually twenty -six people! We meet at my paternal grandparents with my cousins, uncles and celebrate Christmas together.
After that we go to Nola , a town near Naples in the south of Italy where we go to visit other relatives, How nice, I can not wait !!!
With our relatives we celebrate NEW YEAR’S DAY together. Perhaps we will visit some interesting places and CHRISTMAS MARKET .
Last year we went to see the fireworks on the roof.

My Christmas
Christmas is my favourite time of the year. We start our “Christmas activities” by decorating our house and the Christmas tree with tinsel, balls and lights. Then, we write a Christmas card for Santa Claus, in this we write about the presents that we wish to get for Christmas.
On the 12th of December we open a small present under the tree from Saint Lucy.
On Christmas Eve night me and my family go to church for the Christmas mass. On the Christmas morning we open the big Christmas presents. Then we go to our grandparents for the Christmas lunch. We usually eat “cotechino” (pig’s meat) with peas; for dessert we have “mascarpone” (sweet cream) and fruit salad. Then we play board games with all family.

SOME STUDENTS DON’T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS
BUT THEY ENJOY HAVING A LONG HOLIDAY
MY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Hi! I’m Sofia and I from Italy but my parents are from China.
I don’t celebrate Christmas. In that period I don’t go to school then I go to bed and get up very late.
In my home there aren’t presents, a christmas tree, tinsels, a manger scene, christmas dinner, lights or decorations.
Christmas, for me, is a daily routine as the other: in the morning I have breakfast and I read a book, in the afternoon I have a normal lunch and I do my homework, in the evening I have usual dinner, next I spend a lot of time using my cell phone or the computer and at night I go to bed late at about at 00:00.
But sometimes my family and I or my relatives go to the square of my town for a walk. There is a big Christmas tree, lights and a lot of decorations of Christmas.
However I wish you a merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!!

A TUNISIAN PUBLIC HOLIDAY I LIKE
Public holidays are my favourite time of the year.
In Tunisia people celebrate “l’Aid” after every month of “Ramadan”. A week before children go with their parents to buy new clothes and presents. At home the women make a lot of delicious biscuits and sweets in the holiday morning then every family have breakfast together and they usually have biscuits and tea. After breakfast people go to Mosque to pray.
Then they go to visit their relatives and exchange some presents.
Christmas in Italy is wonderful. I like the street decorated with lights and I love Italian Christmas cakes especially “Pandoro”.

MY CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
I celebrate Christmas at home.
I wake up and go to the bathroom to take a nice hot shower.
After taking a shower, I go to the kitchen to ask my mother what I can have for breakfast, my mom usually makes pancake and orange juice.
After eating I play games on the playstation with my cousin for a long time. At 1:00 o’clock my mom calls us to tell us that lunch is ready. We have so many things to eat: chicken,French fries, rice and a lot of cake. After eating we often go out to play Cricket or Football. After playing we go home where we play computer games. We usually play “Call of Duty”. At dinner we go to my aunt’s and it is usually a wonderful dinner!
